Aeroseal technology is the solving factor for exhaust leakage at elite school for girls.
Overview
The School’s Main Campus is situated in Spring Hill, on the edge of Brisbane’s CBD. The historic Main Building (opened in 1884) to state-of-the-art facilities such as the Cherrell Hirst Creative Learning Centre and the Elizabeth Jameson Research Learning Centre. The Science Learning Centre is the School’s newest building with seven storeys which offer dedicated floors and specialised equipment for each scientific discipline. It also provides five new general learning classrooms, a generous Sport and Health and Physical Education space, and a multi-function space that seats up to 600 guests.

Aeroseal Duct Sealing
Clean-Air conducted an initial walk-through inspection to verify the positions of key components to be isolated on each level. Dewpoint conducted blanking of duct open ends and to the unit so that it could be pressurised for sealing and also provided spigots in ductwork to be connected to the Aeroseal machine with flexible connectors.
The system was able to be sealed from roof so Clean-Air set up their Aeroseal equipment and performed a pre-seal testing to quantify and record the duct leakage rate in the riser. Assuming that the ductwork shall not leak more than 40% and has no dust build-up noting that the gaps in the sheet metal duct are not more than 15mm.
The focus of work was to seal the horizontal toilet exhaust ductwork internally. The Aeroseal Process injected aerosolised Vinyl Acetate Polymer into the ductwork to seal leaks from inside. During the process they continuously inspected the spaces being served by the duct to observe if there was excessive discharge of sealant during the sealing process. The process was then continued until the target leakage rate was achieved.
Pre/Post Leakage recording determined a 97% reduction rate
Clean-Air recorded a Pre-Aeroseal Treatment Rate of 163.7 L/s of leakage before sealing, and a Post-Aeroseal Treatment Rate of 5.1 L/s of leakage, corresponding to a successful 97% reduction in Duct Leakage.
