When installing new commercial HVAC equipment in a dense city center, timing and access are everything. While many assume corrosion protection happens either at the factory or on the rooftop after installation, there’s a far more efficient window: mid-supply chain coating.
We recently intercepted new York Air-Cooled Chillers (Johnson Controls) staged at Daryl Dickenson Transport, giving us the perfect window to apply AerisGuard Corrosion Protection Plus before their scheduled midnight crane lift onto Queen Street in the Brisbane CBD.
Whether at a factory, a logistics depot, or in transit, applying protective coatings mid-supply chain ensures complete coverage without delaying active construction schedules or fighting rooftop winds and weather.

“Rooftop installations in the CBD don't leave room for delays or bad weather. By taking care of the corrosion protection mid-supply chain at the transport yard, we gave the client total peace of mind—the chillers were 100% protected before they reached Queen Street.”

Why Mid-Supply Chain Coating Makes Sense
Commercial chillers operate in unforgiving environments, exposed to urban pollution, coastal humidity, and atmospheric corrosive elements. Coating coils and casings after installation often means dealing with restricted access, weather holds, and immediate exposure to ambient conditions.
By intercepting equipment mid-supply chain:
Unrestricted 360° Access: Technicians can reach every internal angle, coil face, and housing section before the unit is locked into a tight rooftop plant room.
Zero Construction Downtime: Work takes place during transport staging without interrupting active trade schedules on site or fighting rooftop winds and weather.
Day-One Environmental Defense: Equipment arrives at the job site fully protected against atmospheric attack from the second it’s unhooked from the crane.

The Coating Strategy: Blue for Coils, Clear for Casings
To preserve heat transfer efficiency while safeguarding structural integrity, we executed a tailored dual-coating process using AerisGuard Corrosion Protection Plus:
Blue Coating for Coils: Formulated specifically for heat exchange surfaces, this specialised blue barrier halts galvanic and environmental corrosion while keeping thermal conductivity at peak performance.
Clear Coating for Casings: Applied to structural panels, the durable clear coating acts as an invisible shield against moisture, salt spray, and chemical buildup.
Meticulous Attention to Detail
A protective coating is only as effective as its application. Our technician, Josh, worked inside the coil banks and climbed atop the units to thoroughly cover the challenging "inside V" section directly beneath the fan assembly.
After the coils were coated in blue, the casing panels were treated on their interior side, reinstalled, and given a final comprehensive exterior coating to complete the protective shell.
CBD-Ready from the Moment of Lift
When these York units made their midnight trip to Queen Street, they weren't just scheduled for installation—they were fully armed to deliver decades of efficient, reliable performance.
By integrating corrosion defense mid-supply chain, asset owners extend equipment lifespan, maintain optimal energy efficiency, and eliminate early-life maintenance headaches.
